The Vision
-
Do you have young children in your community?
-
Are you a Christian with a vision for sharing God's love with them?
-
Do you have anyone in your church who works with the under five year olds?
-
As a church, have you tried to make an impact in your local area, but don't feel that you have made any great difference?
-
Are you already involved in Early Years Education with a Christian foundation and have a passion to see this work expand?
-
Do you think that working with under fives involves than playing with sand and water and should not be left to the government to sort out?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, then Ci2eye is the organisation to contact.
Christian Initiatives in Early Years Education, Ci2eye – pronounced see eye to eye - apart from a fairly catchy name, what is it?
At Ci2eye, we believe that Christians are in a unique position to offer a quality of care for young children which is of the highest standard. This standard of excellence is achieved by Christians regardless of setting and has nothing to do with the facilities available. As Christians, we can provide a high level of care because we can demonstrate the love of God in action.
In 1990, Ruth Andrews, a trained early years teacher, received a two part vision from God in which she saw her local church opening a pre-school to reach the young children in her community with a practical, real demonstration of the love of God. The second part of the vision was of this initiative being transferred nation-wide, where Christians see and grasp the opportunity to show the love of God in action amongst families with young children. In 2003, the second part of the vision came into being, through the launch of Ci2eye.
Yet in her work with other care providers, Ruth found that many Christians working in Early Years Education lacked confidence and contacts to develop their work, or felt very isolated. This is where we offer our support. Ci2eye acts as a coordinating body to help those working in Early Years Education access resources, conferences, advice, regional meetings, and support.
